The training will also discuss ideal child protection policies for a faith based institution, including handling a situation in which a convicted sex offender seeks to join a congregation.

Stewards of Children Training
STEWARDS OF CHILDREN®Learn how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.  We want you to become confident and competent, knowing how to prevent sexual abuse and react skillfully if it occurs.  Stewards of Children® uses real people and real stories to show you how to protect children. The framework of the training is built off the foundation of The 5 Steps to Protecting Children™.  You’ll meet survivors who lived through child sexual abuse, experienced its immediate and long-term effects, and ultimately were able to find healing. You’ll meet experts who work with children and families, and confront abuse on a daily basis. Many of these survivors and experts are also parents themselves.
Intended Audience
Anyone over age 16
If you are interested in training for yourself or your organization please contact Carrie Nettles at cnettles@julievalentinecenter.org

Sexual Assault Conference: April 2020, Please check back for more information.
Julie Valentine Center’s Community Summit on Sexual Assault is held annually during the month of April for Sexual Assault Awareness month. This conference provides education and training for healthcare professionals, law enforcement investigators, mental health professionals, victims, advocates, and other community members on the issues surrounding sexual assault in our community. CEUs are available.

The 2019 summit focused on ending the backlog of untested rape kits. Participants developed an understanding of the scope of the problem, the impact the problem has on victims and our community, and federal, state, and local policy initiatives underway to process this evidence, hold perpetrators accountable, and bring justice to victims.
