Hero group is for children ages 6-11 who are survivors of sexual abuse. Groups are formed based on age and gender so that the children will feel the most comfortable with their peers. Hero Group uses fun, creative activities to reinforce skills already learned in individual therapy. This group promotes a positive self-image and teaches children that they are heroes for having told what happened to them. One of the most beneficial aspects of Hero Group is that children learn that they are not alone and that other children, who look just like them, are also heroes.
An initial assessment is required for the child to join group and a caregiver is required to stay on-site while their child is in group.
